A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Bode George, has urged former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to step down from contesting the presidential election in 2027.
Bode George pointed out that Atiku, who was the PDP's presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, has been contesting since 1993.
Addressing the media in Ikoyi on Thursday, November 21, 2024, George advised Atiku to end his 21-year-long bid to be president and assume the position of an elder.
In a video circulating on social media, the chieftain pointed out that Atiku would be 81 years old by 2027.
“My advice to Atiku is this. You will be 81 years old in 2027, and you have been contesting for the presidency since 1993. It is time for you to calm down and act like an elder. Take it easy and leave everything for posterity.”
