A former member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller has reacted to a viral video that showed the moment operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) attempted to force themselves into the Lagos State House of Assembly chamber on Monday, February 17.
In his reaction to the video that was shared by social commentator, Isaac Fayose and has since been shared across various social media platforms, Peller said "It's disheartening to see the lust for power ripping our nation apart, day by day."
Earlier, men of the security agency stormed and sealed off the offices of the Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, her deputy and clerk of the house.
The Vanguard reports that the armed personnel had taken over the premises at Alausa, Ikeja, and its environs.
Meranda, however, arrived with her convoy at about 11.15am.
Recall that the embattled former Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, has sued the state lawmakers challenging his removal as the Speaker of the Assembly.
Obasa, it was gathered, has filed a motion at the Ikeja Division of the State High Court, where he is also seeking an accelerated hearing of his suit.
Obasa was removed in absentia by 32 out of the 40 members of the state Assembly on January 13, 2025. He was in the United States of America when he was removed in a situation described as “coup,” by President Bola Tinubu.
