A video of President Bola Tinubu mistakenly referring to the 10th National House of Assembly as the 11th has gone viral.
During his opening remarks before presenting the N47 trillion 2025 budget to a joint session, the President stated that he was presenting the budget to the 11th Assembly instead of the 10th.
This mistake caused a stir on the chamber floor, and his attention was drawn to the error.
He said, "To reduce poverty on the journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly," which was met with loud cheers.
Upon realizing his mistake, President Bola Tinubu exclaimed, "10th? I wrote 11," adding, "which means you are all re-elected."
The 2025 'Restoration' budget was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday, December 16.
This is the president’s second full budget since he assumed office in May 2023.
Earlier last Thursday, he informed the lawmakers of his plan to present the document on Tuesday. However, the presentation was delayed by one day due to required amendments in the document.
