The Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, has said that Nigerians whose pastors prophesied that they will sing a new song should go ahead and learn the new national anthem.

Speaking at an event, Kukah noted that at the beginning of the year, some pastors prophesied that some people would sing a new song, unaware that the new song is the reinstated national anthem.

Urging them to go and learn their new song, Kukah said, “For those of you whose pastors told you in January, at the beginning of the year that by the grace of God you will sing a new song, now learn the national anthem.''

On May 29, 2024, President Tinubu signed a new bill into law reintroducing the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee”.

Bishop Kukah’s comment caused a huge laughter among the crowd. As the video hit the internet, some Nigerians took to social media to share their thoughts.
