The Imo State Police Command has accused the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of resorting to propaganda to cover up their atrocities.
This was after a Biafra self -determination activist, Chinasa Nworu, shared a video showing a camp used by kidnappers, which he claims is operated by Fulani men and others.
The video also showed cars allegedly stolen from kidnap victims whom he claimed were killed and buried at the camp IPOB discovered.
He shared on X, "IPOB intelligence unit just busted a kidnapping camp at the boundary between Umuosinta Amuzi Obowo and Iheteafor-ukwu ahazu Mbaise .
"Reports available have it that the criminals in charge of this particular criminal den are Pastor Steve, Fulani, Akalaonu and others, a lot of unmarked graves were discovered there and many stolen vehicles are parked in the criminal camp.
"Reports have it that some of the car owners were killed and buried in that place while some who after collecting ransom were killed.
"These gang of criminals are operating from Igweocha after their criminal operation in Imo State, they retrieved back to Igweocha to hide and will always return to continue their criminal activities in that Obowo axis.
"Therefore, the youths of these communities should take responsibility to protect their communities because two or three villagers are working with those criminals, yesterday the criminals came and moved two cars from that criminal camp to sell.
"A lot of luxury cars are parked in that criminal camp from Toyota Avalon, Ranger Rover, Toyota Camry, Lexus etc
#ESN operatives are not present in this area for certain reasons, some people working with politicians in the government of Hope Uzodinma have links with these criminals from Igweocha, they use them for assassination, kidnapping and collecting Ransoms.
"The youths and villagers from these communities Umuosinta Amuzi Obowo and Iheteafor-ukwu ahazu Mbaise know what to do in order to secure their communities."
Reacting, the Spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, DSP Henry Okoye, stated that what goes on in the camp is the same thing IPOB engages in.
He wrote on X, "This is pure cheap blackmail and a desperate attempt by IPOB/ESN to mislead the public with falsehoods. These terrorist elements, known for their violent crimes, including killings, kidnappings, and arson, are now resorting to propaganda to cover up their atrocities.
"The Imo State Police Command condemns this baseless propaganda and urges the public to reject their lies.
"IPOB/ESN remain enemies of peace and security, and their cowardly tactics will not succeed. Security agencies remain committed 2 crushing all criminal elements and ensuring peace in Imo State."
