Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa has vowed never to return to Africa until Biafra’s freedom is actualized.

The self-acclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra Republic in Exile made this statement following calls for his extradition for fighting for the freedom of the people of Biafra.

The Finland-based Biafran described them as “idiots” and tackled the media for allegedly publishing the notices and statements. According to him, he is fighting the Biafra battle with the aim of securing freedom for the upcoming generation.

“Simon Ekpa’s leg will never touch down in Africa soil until Biafra is declared, defended and recognised as an independent nation. Those talking about Simon Ekpa’s extradition for fighting for freedom are idiots, from your smelling media houses to your dirty Afonjas to your irredentists Ishmaelite. I am here to pass freedom to our new generation.”

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the Nigerian government announced plans to extradite Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), from Finland.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, made this known after a high-level discussion with his counterparts from Finland, Sweden, and Iceland, as well as representatives from Norway and Denmark, in Abuja.

The Finnish Foreign Affairs Minister, Elina Valtonen, mentioned that her country has begun to act on the complaints by the Nigerian government against Ekpa.

She noted that Ekpa has strained diplomatic relations between Finland and Nigeria and that the case will be strictly guided by the rule of law, adding that the issue is not a political one but will be decided by Finnish courts.

“We have taken this up and discussed this with the Nigerian authorities… and the entire process is within our judicial system,” she said.

Simon Ekpa has often claimed responsibility for attacks on Nigerian security forces and individuals suspected of supporting Nigeria. He defends his actions calling them the terror inflicted by Nigerian security forces on “Biafra territory.”
