The lead pastor of Household of Love Churches worldwide, Reverend Yinka Yusuf, has vowed to deal with the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, for allegedly saying evangelism is noise.
This was after the governor announced a ban on noise pollution in the state, which was already prohibited under an existing public health law.
In a viral video, Soludo could be seen warning a public preacher to stop his activities, just as he advised him to take his preaching to a church or a designated space, warning that violators risked a fine of ₦500,000.
Reacting, Reverend Yusuf slammed the governor, just as he wondered if he could try such with Islam.
He told his congregation, "I'm going to Anambra State. I had the governor talk against evangelism. Those of you on social media record this and tell him that I will deal with him for calling evangelism noise or he should apologize."
He further stated, "I will Ludo him. By the time I'm through with that man... The man opened his mouth to say the gospel is noise. Can you say that about Islam? Does he think the church is herbalists that he's talking to? We are not herbalists."
Reverend Yusuf also lambasted Soludo for embarrassing the public preacher, saying the governor would regret his action.
"He embarrassed him and said, you are making noise if you want to preach, preach in your church. God told us to take the gospel out of the church.
"Just because you are in one position for four years you are not even sure if you will finish the four years," he said.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has dismissed claims that Soludo laced a ban on evangelism in the state.
“The public is therefore advised to disregard any claims suggesting that Governor Soludo has banned evangelism or public preaching in Anambra State. Instead, we urge citizens to comply with the Public Health Law and respect the rights of others,” he said in a statement.
