An academic and political figure, Professor Babafemi Adeyeye, has revealed how President Bola Tinubug ave him a strategy that enabled him to evade an assassination attempt during the tumultuous struggle over former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s controversial third-term bid in the mid-2000s.

During the period, Tinubu was the governor of Lagos State and was among notable politicians who opposed Obasanjo's bid for a controversial third term in office.

According to Adeyeye, his opposition to the third term agenda made him a target which would have ended his life.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television, Adeyeye revealed that he escaped the plot against him through an advice given by Tinubu.

“Tinubu’s network and foresight were instrumental. He warned me of the plot, advised me on safe routes, and connected me with trusted allies who helped me disappear for a time,” Adeyeye reportedly said, though the specifics of the strategy remain undisclosed.
