His loyalty was to the APC – Labour Party fires Okonkwo after resignation

Abayomi Arabambi, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP) says the exit of former party chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo from the party was a good riddance as it attempts to unseat the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

Arabambi made this known interview on Channels Television on Wednesday, February 12 in response to Okonkwo's criticisms of the party after he resigned early this week.

Okonkwo intimated that the opposition party was not ready to contest in 2027, describing it as "non-existent".

"And we wish Mr Kenneth Okonkwo well, his resignation is good riddance to bad rubbish. He should not speak about the Labour Party anymore."

"There is no leadership crisis in the Labour Party. Labour Party is not going into extinction. It is just a figment of the imaginations of most of our detractors,” Arabambi said.

According to him, the Nollywood actor-turned-politician has colluded with the ruling party as his loyalty was never with the Labour Party.

"The APC man has been working with President Tinubu before, that is Kenneth Okonkwo, he worked against Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections. We wish him well and we will meet in 2027,” he added.

The LP Publicity Secretary reiterated that the party will not tolerate any form of political rascality, saying proactive steps were in place to weed out those who have loyalties elsewhere.
