Jimmy Odukoya, senior pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, has shared that his decision to keep his dreadlocks was inspired by divine guidance, a revelation that has sparked significant conversation online.
During a recent sermon, Jimmy—who succeeded his late father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, as church leader—explained that he sought God’s direction regarding his appearance before stepping into his pastoral role. According to him, God made it clear during his prayers that he should not cut his hair.
He revealed that his sister, initially skeptical about his choice, later confirmed the divine instruction after seeking God’s guidance herself.
Jimmy also shared a remarkable testimony of a woman who traveled from Zimbabwe to Nigeria to attend a church service. The woman recounted a vision she had back in 2016 while in New York. In her vision, she saw a man with long hair and a sword delivering powerful words that freed her from emotional struggles. Fast forward to 2025, she came across one of Jimmy’s sermons on YouTube and immediately recognized him as the man she saw in her vision.
What struck Jimmy most was that in 2016, when the woman had her vision, he didn’t yet have long hair—highlighting what he believes to be God’s plan for his journey long before he was aware of it.
Jimmy explained that he sees his dreadlocks as part of his divine mission, enabling him to reach people and deliver life-changing messages, just as that one encounter did.
