Food prices crashing because Tinubu has dealt with insecurity - Bwala

Daniel Bwala Daniel Bwala

Presidential Spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, has said the reason why food prices are crashing is that President Bola Tinubu's administration has dealt a heavy blow to insecurity, hence farmers enthusiastically go to farm and do what they do best.

This was as he shared statistics to show that insecurity in 2024 is the lowest recorded since 2014.

According to Bwala who wrote on X, this shows that President Tinubu means business.

the spokesperson then urged Nigerians to "ignore the sore losers who are peddling fake news that importation is the reason for crashing of the prices."

Bwala said this after a New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) chieftain, Buba Galadima, accused President Tinubu of deliberately reducing the price of foodstuff to destroy the economy of the north.

Speaking to DCL Hausa, Galadima said, “The reasons why the price of food soared was because of insecurity as farmers aren’t able to go to farms to carry out their activities.

“So, how does the price come down when farmers are unable to go farm? Even if they had gone to the farm, where are the tractors, fertilizers, and others that would bring a bumper harvest for the farmers to sell?

“The government has started massive food importation, and this will make the economy of the north, which depends on agriculture, dwindle as many won’t be able to farm to gain any meaningful profit."

Reacting, Bwala stated that individuals who hold such thoughts as Galadima's are "probably not happy that we are dealing with insecurity."
