Fire has gutted an Access Bank building on Adetokunbo Ademole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
This was made known in a tweet from the Federal Fire Service official twitter handle. According to Nairametrics, men of the service were already at the scene of the incident where a petrol/diesel tanker was also burning.
Unconfirmed reports say the fire outbreak could have affected a second building close to the scene of the incident.
According to Nairametrics, the fire started when a diesel-laden truck with number plate AKD 637 XP, was offloading 33,000 litres diesel for generators of the bank. In the process, an explosion from a yet to be identified source occurred, igniting a massive fire, which subsequently spread to a nearby bank building.
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu has since confirmed the incident.
