Federal Government reveals plan to send first Nigerian to space

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to send the first civilian to space.

This announcements coincides with the country’s 25th anniversary of its Space Exploration journey.

According to the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, Dr Mathew Adepoju, the federal government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in collaboration with NASRDA and The Space Exploration and Research Agency.

Dr. Adepoju made this announcement during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

He stated, “This collaboration, which is coming to the country, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s 25th anniversary of Space Exploration journey and opens new opportunities for scientific research and technological advancement.”
