Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This move comes after Sani and other prominent politicians were officially welcomed into the party by Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
Welcoming the defectors, Governor Sani assured them that they would enjoy the same rights and privileges as longstanding party members.
Addressing a massive crowd of APC supporters at Murtala Square during a mega rally on Saturday, the governor emphasized that there was no distinction between new and old party members.
"Someone who joins APC today and someone who has been a foundation member for 10 years are of the same status. They will enjoy the same rights and privileges," he said.
He urged the new members to inform their supporters that the APC remained open to more defectors, emphasizing the party’s inclusivity.
According to him, APC’s popularity and acceptability stem from its commitment to just leadership at both the state and federal levels.
Sani added that the party had firmly established itself in Kaduna State, the North, and Nigeria as a whole.
“In the 2027 elections, the electorate will vote for APC in all positions, from top to bottom.
“At the top, our leader, President Bola Tinubu, will be re-elected.
“At the state level, the party will secure victories in the gubernatorial, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections, by the grace of God," he declared.
