A video showing activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju in court after the Federal High Court in Abuja dropped the charges against minors who participated in the #Endbadgovernance protests has surfaced.
The charges were dismissed by Justice Obiora Egwuatu after being withdrawn by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, on behalf of the federal government.
Fagbemi SAN, represented by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, M.D Abubakar, announced the government's decision to take over the case from the Inspector General of Police using section 174 of the 1999 Constitution.
After Justice Egwuatu granted the request, the AGF invoked the same section of the Constitution to end the trial of the 150 accused persons.
With no objections from the lawyers representing the accused, Justice Egwuatu granted the request and dismissed the charges.
Although the accused were not present in court, the Judge ordered their immediate release from prison.
Arise News reports that the minors are currently en route to the State House.
