Activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has shared his thoughts on the election scheduled to take place in Edo State on September 21, 2024.
VDM, as he is commonly called, stated that the people are at a cross roads on who to vote for as their next governor.
He noted that residents wonder if Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party would be a good candidate, given that his principal, the current Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, failed to meet the needs of the people during his eight-year tenure.
VeryDarkMan also stated that concerns have been raised as to whether the candidate under the All Progressives Congress Monday Okpebholo, would be any different, considering the challenging situation of the country under the APC.
He recounted his visit to Edo State, where he saw large portion of land filled with red sands. He nearly wept, adding that it has been alleged that Obaseki collected people’s lands and demolished their houses.
The activist mentioned that as the parties’ rallies have come to an end, the politicians are currently reaching out to celebrities to influence the people to vote for them.
He warned the people of Edo State to be mindful and choose their preferred candidate whom they believe will work in their favour.
“Do not follow any celebrity to vote for their candidate. You are the one suffering, you are the one residing in Edo State. I don’t live in Edo to know exactly what is going on there. So, please stop contacting me.
Do not let any celebrity influence you to vote for anybody. If you like PDP, do it. If you like APC, do it. If you like the Labour Party, do it. They are now contacting people who have platforms to campaign for them,” he said.
