Eberechi Wike, wife of Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has dominated the trends since report emerged she has been listed among several others who will be elevated to become Appeal Court judges.
Eberechi, the significant half of the former Rivers State Governor was born on 24th day of May, 1972 into the Christian family of Dr. Ikechukwu Amadi Obuzor of Odiokwu in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
She has managed to maintain a low profile unlike her husband who is almost in the news for the several reasons. Below, MyNigeria breaks down her personal and educational background.
Education
She ventured into law after she was admitted into the ivers State University of Science and Techonology, Port Harcourt. With an Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) in 1996, she proceeded to Nigerian Law School wherein she obtained the Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) (Hons) in 1997 and was called to the Nigerian Bar on the 25th of February, 1998. In 2005/2006, she completed her Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M), from the University of Sussex, United Kingdom by virtue of the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship.
Her career began between 1998 to 2001 when was appointed the Legal Counsel (Litigation) with E. C. Ukala & Co (Efe Chambers).
She was later appointed a Magistrate Grade I in the Rivers State Magistracy where she climbed through the rungs of varying grades and served for more than 10 years. Her last appointment being Chief Magistrate Grade II in 2009, until her present appointment as a Judge of the High Court of Rivers State on 14th February, 2012 where she is presently the presiding Judge, High Court of Justice, Nchia.
Associations
She is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA); International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Rivers State Branch (and once the Assistant Financial Secretary); National and International Associations of Women Judges (NAWJ and IAWJ); also an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) and an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb).
She was once a member of the Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria (MAN) Rivers State Branch and a one-time Public Relations Officer of the Association.
Conferences
Her Lordship has attended conferences, workshops and leadership programmes organised by the National Judicial Institute (NJI) and the Lagos Business School (LBS) amongst others. An observer of Judicial Proceedings at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in Amsterdam on an excursion by LL.M students of the University of Sussex, U.K. in 2006. H
Hobbies
She enjoys travelling, cooking, reading, listening to classic and contemporary music and loves to play lawn tennis.
She is happily married to Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and together they are blessed with three adorable children.
