Aliko Dangote has maintained his position as Africa's richest man with a global ranking as the 86th richest man in the world, according to Forbes which listed him to have a fortune of $23.9 billion.
Forbes reported that Dangote’s wealth increased by 85.27 per cent or $11 billion year-on-year, from $12.9 billion net worth.
The publication stated that Damgote's wealth increased due to his 92.3 per cent stake in Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, which began processing crude into products, including diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel in January 2024.
The 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) received about 24 million barrels of Nigerian supply in October and November last year and is looking forward to ramping up production.
About 12 million barrels of crude oil from the United States is also expected to be delivered to the refinery which expects to commence full-scale operation in 30 days.
In the world's richest men list, Elon Musk, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tesla, sits at the top with $393.2 billion.
Second on the list is Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Meta, who was valued at $247.2 billion, while Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, was ranked third with $240.1 billion.
