Churches now hideouts for those who failed in careers - Apostle Femi Lazarus

Apostle Femi Lazarus Apostle Femi Lazarus

The lead pastor of Light Nation Church, Apostle Femi Lazarus, has said the reason why churches look like business centres today is because they have become a hideout for those who failed in their careers.

Addressing his congregation as seen in a viral video, Lazarus recalled the story of a young man who got rusticated at the university for failing woefully.

He said the failure motivated the young man to start a church when he ought to go back to school and strive to learn.

He continued, "One of the reasons why many churches have become powerless and look like business centres is because it is the hideouts for those who failed in business careers.

"Once you don't know anything else to do and you can be in church early, you can lead prayers once in a while, you can tuck in and wear some tie; one day, they'll give you a broom, basket, pulpit and 12 chairs, you are now a pastor.

"That God called you doesn't matter. And you wonder why many are failing."

Addressing the idea that God might not move through such a ministry, Lazarus said, "Yes, he will move but the move will be contained because you can't give what you don't have.

"Somebody said in the days of Apostle Ayo Babalola, those men were illiterates. In those days, nothing more was required. They were not dealing with the complex systems and structures of nations we are dealing with. By the way, they were not lazy."
