Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has sent a congratulatory message to afrobeats star Davido and his partner, Chioma Rowland, on their upcoming wedding.

Momodu, a close associate of the Adeleke family, extended a heartfelt wish on his Instagram page on Tuesday, June 25.

The publisher of Ovation Magazine has had a fractures relationship with the singer over the treatment of his niece, Sophia Momodu, who has a daughter with Davido.

"On behalf of the Momodu family of Ihievbe, Edo State, I wish to send our heartiest congratulations to @davido and his lovely wife @thechefchi on this special day of their wedding. May GOD almighty bless the union and provide you with good health, more prosperity, and unlimited happiness," he wrote.

His comments have generated mixed reactions on social media.

It remains unclear if the politician will attend the wedding.

Recall, Momodu said the fracas with Davido was bigger than his battle with the country’s former military Head of State, the late Gen. Sanni Abacha.

The magazine publisher described the clash as his ‘biggest battle ever’ due to the musician’s popularity.

“Fighting with David was my biggest battle ever,” Momodu said in a 2018 interview.

“It was bigger than fighting Abacha because of the blistering popularity of David; he is an extremely popular guy and it was very unfortunate, (the devil is a liar) because a baby was involved; a very beautiful girl, Imade.”

The Ovation boss, an uncle to Davido’s first baby mama, Sophie Momodu, said he didn’t want the fight to happen, but it eventually did.

“When it happened, I tried my best to avoid a collision with the family because I am very close to the family, especially because of Senator Ademola Adeleke. We used to sleep in the same house when I was in exile in London. Whenever Sen. Ademola was around, he would call me and then pick me up to his house, and I’d sleep there. When I needed to go back to my own house, he would drop me,” he added.

Davido will officially tie the knot with his long-term partner Chioma on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. This will be a follow-up to their initial traditional wedding, which took place in 2023.

Davido revealed that the value of his fiancée Chioma Rowland's engagement ring is equivalent to the price of two or three Rolls Royce.
