A series of videos show children singing and marching as they demand better governance, an end to hunger, and relief from economic hardships.
Nigerians began a ten-day nationwide protest on Thursday, August 1, to express their dissatisfaction with the current state of the economy. They are protesting against the hike in fuel prices, increased food prices, insecurity, high cost of living, and corruption.
In some videos shared on social media, children can be seen carrying placards and tree branches, joining the youths in demonstrating against the government led by President Bola Tinubu.
One young girl was seen holding a placard with the inscription, “My father can’t afford my school fees, Mr President, please help.”
She explained that her father is also unable to pay the rent as they have been struggling due to the economic situation.
The girl further mentioned that previously she could purchase a biscuit for N100, but now she is reminded at the stores that biscuits are no longer sold at that price.
