A Nigerian lawyer, Opeyemi Mabawonku, is facing backlash after CCTV footage captured him violently beating his wife, Abiola.

The video shows the man confronting his wife, abruptly resorting to using items from a nearby table to hit her as she tried to escape the violence.

Their two daughters were present during the incident and were later sent to their room. In the video, the wife warned about his actions in front of their children, but he dismissed her concerns and continued his attack.

She mentioned that she would inform her father, which seemed to provoke the lawyer, causing him to react angrily.

The video sparked numerous reactions on social media, with many users tagging the X account of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

In response, the agency expressed gratitude to those who alerted them to the incident and assured that appropriate action would be taken.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out or tagged us regarding this video. We appreciate your vigilance in bringing this to our attention. Now that we're aware, we’re taking swift action to address the matter appropriately.”

I don't know how recent this video is but she needs to leave, for her sake and that of her girls while they're still this young too.
