After the sale of $876.26 million by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a retail auction, the naira has continued it's winning streak for two days, since Wednesday, August 7.
According to reports, this is the single largest sale by CBN under Olayemi Cardoso, the current governor.
The CBN sold $876.26 million to end users whose bids were submitted by 26 banks at N1,495 per dollar.
The total bids at the retail auction came to about $1.18 billion, received from 32 authorized dealer banks.
Information from the FMDQ Group, indicates that after the sale, the Nigerian currency strengthened to N1,596 to a dollar in the official market from the N1,601 it recorded the previous day.
