As today marks the Armed Force Remembrance Day, a ceremony was held at the National Arcade, Eagle Square in Abuja to honour servicemen of the Nigeria Armed Forces.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and other prominent government officials.
During this event, as it is a norm, white pigeons are placed in a cage at the event centre and released into the air by the president. The freeing of the birds are said to symbolize peace, unity and security.
However, during the occasion, as the president opened the cage to set the birds free, the pigeons refused to fly even after several attempts.
This development sparked some interesting reactions from Nigerians as some attributed the refusal of the birds to fly to the poor growth of the economy.
