Journalist Kemi Olunloyo has joined many others in speaking out against the actions of House of Representatives member Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, who was captured in a video assaulting a delivery driver known as Stephen Abuwatseya.

The driver who went to deliver a package to Alex at his Maitama residence in Abuja, was accosted by the lawmaker who was displeased with Stephen for telling him to come out and get the snail the driver was meant to deliver.

As a result, Alex was seen slapping Stephen and threatening to lock him up in his generator house as well as make him disappear.

This did not sit well with many, who condemned the lawmaker’s actions and alerted the police for immediate action to be taken against Alex.

Kemi Olunloyo, on her part, claimed that the snail Alex received from the delivery man was for ritual purposes.

The journalist claimed her herbalist friend told her about the use of a single snail, attributing it to juju (ritual).

She asked if the lawmaker was attempting to perform rituals on one of his fellow lawmakers.

“A snail, one snail? Honourable Alex, what are you using one snail for? A snail is invasive; you are not using it to breed more or to do something in your garden. Its for juju now. Can you just tell Nigerians. Honourable Alex, its for diabolical purposes, am I correct? My Agbo lady tells me that one single snail is used for juju rituals. Alex are you trying to do rituals on one of your fellow lawmakers? What is it?” she said.

Kemi Olunloyo commended activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan for his effort in locating the driver and ensuring that the police command in Abuja take up the case.

Less than 24 hours later, Alex was arrested by the police and has rendered an apology to the public following his behaviour.

“As a public servant, I recognise the trust placed in me by my constituents and the Nigerian people. My behaviour fell short of the standards expected of me, and for that, I am truly sorry.”
