His Royal Majesty Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V has been re-selected and proclaimed as the Obong of Calabar.

This is coming days after a Supreme Court judgement which removed him from the position.

Daily Trust reported that Otu was reaffirmed as Obong of Calabar after a lengthy meeting held by Etuboms’ Conclave of the Efik Traditional Rulers’ Council.

The meeting climaxed at 7.30pm on Wednesday, January 18, with the declaration by 13 Etuboms who signed it.

This is in line with the Supreme Court judgement of 13 January 2023 which ordered that the exercise must be done not later than Wednesday 18 January 2023.
