2027: Opposition coalition should give Obi ticket - Sam Amadi

Sam Amadi Sam Amadi

A former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr Sam Amadi, has said if the coalition of opposition parties needs the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, they should give him their presidential ticket in 2027.

Amadi said this after Obi stated that he has no intention of joining any coalition that doesn't have the interest of Nigerians at heart.

Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election, is currently frolicking with top opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.

He was one of those who spoke at a national conference on strengthening democracy in Africa, an event that was also attended by former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who was the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in 2023.

Another politician present at the event was a former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai, who has been acting disgruntled about the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress to which he belongs.

Obi's movement with the other opposition leaders indicates that he's ready for a coalition, which may see him once again become the running mate to Atiku as it was in 2019.

However, his recent statement of not having an interest in any power-grab coalition has created the notion that he might contest the presidency in 2027.

Reacting, Amadi shared on X, "It is obvious that @PeterObi will run for the presidency in 2027. If the coalition needs him badly, they should consider giving him the ticket."
