The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has initiated steps to replace Finidi George, with several foreign coaches expressing interest in the vacant role.

The former international announced his resignation as head coach of the Super Eagles last week after just two matches in charge.

Finidi George endured a difficult start to his campaign as head coach of the three-time African champions after he failed to secure a win against South Africa and Benin Republic in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana of South Africa before losing 2-1 to Gernot Rohr's Benin Republic side in Abidjan, casting doubt on their chances of qualifying for the next Mundial in USA, Canada and Mexico.

According to OwnGoalNigeria, 15 foreign coaches have already expressed their interest in the vacant position, with more expected to join the fray in the coming days.

The NFF is spoilt for choice, with top coaches from around the world vying to succeed Finidi George.

Among the contenders are Roberto Landi, Dario Bonetti, and Giovanni De Bias, as reported by Sportsbrief.

The NFF faces a crucial decision in selecting the right candidate to revive the Super Eagles' fortunes and lead them to World Cup glory when the qualifiers resume next year.
