Emeka Amadi, the clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly has rejected the Siminalayi Fubara faction of the state assembly.

According to Amadi, Martin Amaewhule who is pro-Wike remains the Speaker of the House.

He noted that the three members of the Assemby loyal to Governor Fubara - Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari and Hon. Adolphus Orubimie Timothy—were suspended on October 30, 2023 and cannot lay claim to be officers of the House.

This comes after Victor Oko-Jumbo, the member representing the Bonny constituency assumed the position of Speaker in a viral video.

Recall that on Thursday, May 9, Fubara visited the Assembly complex as the political crisis rocking the state continues.

The Governor moved around the uarters where the Martin Amaewhule-led group met amid tight security.

In a video making the rounds online published by Channels TV, Governor Fubara took a three-minute walk around the facility before leaving the premises.

Meanwhile, some federal lawmakers said the 27 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly lacked the powers to serve Fubara's impeachment notice.

The 27 lawmakers, who decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are loyal to the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
