Wofai Fada shares more photos from her engagement; father in-law explains family's disapproval

Actress and comedian Wofai Fada has shared more photos from her traditional marriage to Taiwo Cole.

The actress released pictures from her traditional wedding despite her in-laws' disapproval.

Sharing the photos, she thanked her team and assured them that she and her husband would always be happy.

She wrote: “And our joy shall be permanent. Thanks to my team.”

Due to the disagreement between Wofai Fada and the Cole family, the union announcement made over the weekend has generated a lot of controversy.

Although Taiwo and his spouse have decided to get married, Cole's family claims they were not informed of the union and did not give their consent.

The Cole family distanced themselves from the relationship on Sunday, May 5, 2024, claiming they were not informed of the marriage arrangements and did not give their approval or support.

The family patriarch, Kunle Cole, released a statement following the marriage which went viral.

The statement reads: “This serves to notify all acquaintances, family and friends that the Cole family of Victoria Island, Lagos, are not aware of any marriage ceremony of our son, Taiwo Olakitan Cole; neither did we grant permission nor support in this regard."

“As such, the person(s) parading themselves as new members of the Cole heritage by virtue of this purported event, are not known nor accepted by the family. All publications and documents being circulated about this are to be disregarded.”

Wofai Fada's father-in-law has made it clear that he disapproves of the actress' union with his son.

Speaking up in an interview, he revealed that just seven months prior, his son had informed him about his impending marriage to Wofai and that she was expecting a child and wanted them to get married right away.

After speaking with Wofai's father, he was taken aback by his wedding invitation while the two were still discussing the nuptials.

He said he was taken aback to learn his son had printed wedding invites.

He said when Taiwo and the elders were called to the palace, he only apologized and carried on with the wedding preparations.

The father mentioned Wofai's age of 38 and his son's only 30.

Social media users have responded to the scandals in a variety of ways. Some have supported the family, while others think the union should endure despite the family's opinions.
