Finidi George reveals requirement for Super Eagles call-up

Finidi George was officially unveiled as the new head coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday, May 13th.

His unveiling follows his appointment on April 29th as the successor to Jose Peseiro.

Prior to his appointment, the 53-year-old served as assistant to the Portuguese coach for 20 months before being tasked with leading the team on an interim basis.

Speaking at the NFF's secretariat in Abuja, where the ceremony took place, the former Enyimba FC coach revealed his criteria for selecting players for national duty.

"You have to be playing regularly for your club, and you must demonstrate commitment. For me, Nigeria comes first, and I expect the same level of commitment and loyalty from each player invited. If you can meet these criteria, then we are ready to go," he said.

Finidi George's first official assignment will be against South Africa in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on June 7th, followed by another crucial clash against Benin Republic a few days later.
