Super Eagles duo of Victor Boniface and William Troost-Ekong are poised to make their comeback to the team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

Reports suggest that coach Finidi George has included the Bayern Leverkusen striker and the PAOK defender in his initial 35-man squad for the qualifying series.

Boniface, 23, has not featured for Super Eagles since sustaining an injury at the team's camp in Abu Dhabi just days before the African Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian striker missed out on what could have been his debut AFCON tournament and endured a two-month spell on the sidelines due to the injury.

Meanwhile, Troost-Ekong has also been absent from Nigeria duty since the last AFCON, where he notably won the Player of the Tournament award after scoring four goals as a defender.

The Super Eagles vice-captain underwent surgery to address a thigh injury he sustained during the tournament.

Nigeria is scheduled to host South Africa in Uyo on June 7, followed by an away fixture against Benin Republic in Ivory Coast a few days later.
